Candid With Kambua

How would you describe yourself?
Kambua is a music minister, a wife, a daughter, a lover of life and a lady that loves the Lord.
How do you keep fit?
I don't go to the gym. I’ve tried it before, but that routine didn't work for me. I do, however, take a lot of walks. I’m also very careful about what I eat. As you get older, you realize that your body doesn’t quite function the way it used to. I also advocate for staying happy.
How do you deal with trolls on social media?
A troll is already very insecure about who they are and they'd like to project that onto you. So I've learnt to simply ignore them. When you engage a bully, you feed their energy. I let them say what they need to. I know what they are saying about me isn't true, so I don’t let it hold me back. I hardly ever engage trolls.
How have you been able to stay grounded after all this time in the limelight?
I have family and friends who are honest with me and keep me grounded. They are honest enough to tell me when I'm drifting, as well as encourage me when I'm on the right path.
Is it tough being a woman of faith in the media industry?
It definitely has its challenges, because you are constantly under a lot of scrutiny. Each of us has a calling, and I know that I am called to be in the media. So, I know that there is grace for me to be in that space.
Easter plans?
I can't even recall the last time I had Easter or even Christmas plans, because I work through the holidays!
What should people take away from celebrating Easter and what is your message to them?
Kids are growing up thinking Easter is about Easter bunnies and eggs, and that couldn't be further from the truth. It’s about the death and resurrection of Christ. I'd encourage everyone to take time to reflect on their walk with God and acknowledge the sacrifice he made for each of us to be here. It's okay to celebrate but it's more important to be aware of the reason for the celebration.
